Kids Cove Knoxville | Drop-In Child Care
We didn’t stumble into child care — we identified a problem, saw a gap no one in East Tennessee was solving, and built a solution.
Kids Cove was born as a direct response to what working families actually need, and what the traditional system continues to miss.
If you’re a parent in Knoxville, you already know the frustration. The rigid schedules. The lack of flexibility. The constant feeling that the system wasn’t built with real life in mind.
We know that feeling because we lived it. So we built something different. Here’s what we saw, and how we’re solving it.
Gap #1: Child Care Was Built for Routine. Life Isn’t.
Traditional child care assumes a predictable life — Monday through Friday, 9 to 5, every week, without exception.
That’s not reality for most families.
East Tennessee is full of shift workers, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, military families, and parents managing constantly changing schedules. Yet the system still expects them to fit into a rigid model — and when they can’t, they’re often blamed for “not planning ahead.”
What we did: We built the only drop-in child care center in East Tennessee designed around real life. No long-term contracts. No monthly commitments.
Need care for a few hours on a Saturday? We’ve got you. Unexpected meeting on a Sunday? We’re open. School is closed but work isn’t? Bring them in.
Our hours reflect how families actually live, including evenings and extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays, because the need for child care doesn’t stop when traditional centers close.
Gap #2: Families Were Forced to Choose Between Flexibility and Quality
The industry created a false tradeoff: flexible care meant sacrificing quality.
Parents were left choosing between structured, regulated environments and last-minute, often unvetted alternatives.
We refused to accept that.
Kids Cove is fully licensed by the State of Tennessee and regulated by DHS. Every caregiver is thoroughly vetted, background-checked, medically cleared, and certified in CPR and First Aid. Our facility is equipped with secure video surveillance, and our digital check-in system keeps parents informed in real time.
Flexibility should never come at the cost of safety or quality, and at Kids Cove, it doesn’t.
Gap #3: Child Care Didn’t Exist When Families Needed It Most
Most child care ends at 6 PM. Life doesn’t.
Work events, doctor’s appointments, emergencies, or simply needing a night to recharge — parents were left with limited, often stressful options.
What we did: We created Parents Night Out — structured, themed evening experiences where kids are engaged, safe, and having fun, while parents get something rare: time.
We also launched Kids Cove Pop-Ins, our concierge-style in-home care service for families who need support in their own space. Because sometimes flexibility means bringing care to you.
Gap #4: Those Who Serve the Community Were Overlooked
Military families, healthcare workers, educators, and first responders often have the least predictable schedules, and the fewest child care options.
That didn’t sit right with us.
Frank’s background as a U.S. Army Captain and Eboni’s work with CASA shaped how we built Kids Cove. We understand firsthand the demands placed on these families.
That’s why we offer a 10% discount to active duty and veteran military, emergency personnel, educators, students, and key local organizations. No applications, no red tape. Just support.
Being female- and veteran-owned isn’t just part of our story — it’s part of how we operate.
Gap #5: Child Care Wasn’t Treated as a Workforce Issue
Child care isn’t just a family issue, it’s an economic one.
When parents don’t have reliable care, businesses feel it. Missed work. Lost productivity. Higher turnover. Fewer advancement opportunities. Yet most companies still don’t connect the dots.
With a background in HR and talent acquisition, we see Kids Cove as part of the workforce infrastructure of East Tennessee — not just a service, but a solution.
That’s why we actively partner with businesses and encourage employers to view child care as a critical component of supporting their teams. Because solving this problem benefits everyone.
What’s Next
Kids Cove is growing, intentionally.
We’re expanding our programming, evolving our membership options, and continuing to serve families with children ages six months to twelve years old.
Everything we build is guided by one principle: child care should fit your life — not the other way around.
If you’ve ever felt like the system wasn’t built for you, you were right.
So we built something that is.
